Decluttering is a task that everyone should be aware of.  As much as possible, decluttering is something to be done on a regular basis in order to promote organization and harmony in a specific space.  I personally like to declutter my space on a monthly basis.  Doing so enables me to spend less time searching for stuff I need, and it allows me to maintain a clean and organized space.

Areas in the house must be decluttered separately.  One way or another, things will keep piling up. Till things become less and less organized.  In order to declutter effectively, the question now is what to keep and what to get rid of.  Here are certain things to remember while you declutter.

In the kitchen, there are a lot of ingredients and appliances in there that are not necessary anymore.  When it comes to the ingredients, the most important thing to look at is the best before date or the expiration date.  Any item that has exceeded the date provided must be discarded.  This only means that the item can no longer be consumed.  It must include all the ingredients such as those found in the pantry and in the refrigerator.

On the other hand, there are also the gadgets and tools.  Choose only a few items that you intend to use on a regular basis.  If the item is not something that you use in your cooking everyday, it’s best to dispose such items in order to prevent cluttering.

Inside the bedroom, the closets are the common victims of clutter.  Many people like to pile up as many clothes as they can, hoping that they can wear it again one day.  The same thing goes for bags and shoes.  The important thing here is to choose which ones are still useable and which are not.  If you think such pieces of clothing won’t go back in style, then it’s time to dispose of it.  Some still find clothes, bags and shoes useful so instead of disposing it, they sell it as pre-loved items online.

The bathroom is another area in the house that needs constant decluttering.  I, myself, am guilty of keeping bottles of shampoo, conditioners, lotions and everything that smells good.  Do not make this a habit.  Keeping these cosmetic items for a long time will eventually cause them to expire and before you know it, you’re using a year-old conditioner in your hair.

These are just few of the areas in the house that can be decluttered.  Make sure to get rid of the things you don’t need regularly. This will promote a clean and organized home for the entire family to enjoy.
